Guest Speakers

Every month a guest speaker presents a new topic of interest at the general meetings. The purpose of our guest speakers is to raise awareness and educate everyone who attends about topics related to our conservation and education goals. We hope you all will join us each month at either of the meeting locations listed above.

All general meetings are open to the public and are free to attend.

Please bring aluminum cans for recyling.

Speaker: Jess Brooks – Conservation Educator for the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW)

Jess Brooks has been a Nature and Wildlife Interpreter since 2007 and has worked with National Parks, Forestry, local County and State governments to bring nature to communities. She has her Bachelors in Animal Biology and in Conservation Rehabilitation from California where her focuses were raptor rehabilitation and release. Jess grew up in the Great Basin  and Sierran Deserts when she found home in the Mojave Desert. Her passions are hiking and camping with her family and painting when she can.

Topic: The amazing Owls

We are going to chat about owls and how amazing they are, life history and how they fit into the desert ecosystem, and of course some super cool anatomy and attributes.
