A few of us from RRAS and Las Vegas West Side Photo Club had the pleasure of having a guided tour by Sharon Schafer, Artist Photographer at the Desert Tortoise Research Natural Area in the California Mohave Desert.
We had a very successful day of finding two tortoises that had come out from their winter hybernation. Photographers gathered around to get as many pictures as they could. One tortoise was very curious about all of the photographers laying on the ground snapping away pictures! She decided to go up to one of them and check it out. It was very exciting!
The wild flowers were in full bloom and dancing in the wind. A carpet of gold with splashes of lavender and white for as far as you could see! It was absolutely beautiful!
A few birds, lizards and rabbits were seen as well. The field trip was enjoyed by all, and a big thank you goes out to Sharon for guiding us on such a wonderful outing!
