Jim Boone and Liz LaRue led five of us on a spectacular field trip to Gold Butte and Little Finland. The national monument showed off its natural beauty, blooming wildflowers, and starry skies.
Lots of Costa’s Hummingbirds and Black-throated Sparrows entertained us on our hikes.
During a 4.8-mile hike, we were able to find and remove four mine markers with about 20 dead Ash-throated Flycatchers in the removed markers.
A productive and enjoyed trip. Reports on the photography, wildflower, birding and mine marker removal experiences will follow.
