Do live near the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve in Henderson, Nevada?  Can you carry buckets of water and walk up hills?  Do you want to help birds? If your answer is yes, we could use your help.

Nevada Department of Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are looking for volunteers to help hand water plants.  We have planted 19 species of plants over the last several years to improve bird habitat with help from Red Rock Audubon Society and other groups.

The work to be performed includes mostly hand watering plants with buckets of water from the ponds.  Plants are on the sides of the ponds and some watering requires walking up hill from the pond to the plant on dirt or mulch surfaces.  Other tasks may include: planting plants/seeds, removing weeds, installing/removing plant cages, collecting seeds, and thinning and pruning trees.  The time commitment is 2 hours a week with a flexible schedule.
