“Install wetland plants to improve bird habitat”
Family Friendly Event.
Volunteer planting at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. Help the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service improve bird habitat around pond one. Activities will include planting wetland plants, planting willow poles, watering plants, making plant cages, and installing cages around plants. We are looking for up 15 adult/teenage volunteers. There will be hands-on bird activities for children. Volunteers must be able to use shovels to plant plants. Volunteers should bring work gloves, wear knee high rubber boots if they have them or waterproof hiking boots, and bring water and snacks. Full size shovels will be provided however if volunteers prefer planting on their knees with small tools they should bring these. For more information and to sign up contact Jim Switella at 702-878-3818 or register online. Please let us know ages and number of kids who will be attending.
